The successful business and aviation park will be sponsoring the Creative Industries Award which recognises the use of creative technologies, such as environmental, new media, computer technologies, research methods or creative practice, in enhancing business success.
With a reputation for attracting companies at the forefront of their industries, the site currently houses over 100 businesses employing more than 700 people. Dunsfold Business Park has 65 acres of uniquely flexible commercial space from small incubator units to large scale distribution warehouses; from private storage units to buildings hosting multi-national companies. The Park can also fulfil expansion needs from an extensive land bank which has made it an ideal location for start-ups and more established companies.
Jim McAllister, Director, Dunsfold Park comments:
“At Dunsfold Park we have been nurturing business talent on the site since we began its rejuvenation in 2002. Sponsoring the Creative Industries Award is a natural fit with our own company practice and those of the many tenants we have here.
The awards are an excellent opportunity to celebrate the success of local businesses not only on Dunsfold Park but throughout Surrey, by recognising their contribution to the economy, community and prosperity. We’d encourage all companies in the Surrey area, no matter how small or large, no matter what sector they operate in, to enter the awards.”
Dunsfold Park has ambitious plans to increase the business park to create more space and jobs and has recently begun work on a 9,966 sq.m. expansion project. As well as renewing Infrastructure, Dunsfold Park has implemented a number of environmental initiatives including the development of a solar farm, which secured the site’s place in history as the first business park in the UK to be fed principally by green energy. Plans for an anaerobic digestion plant that will produce Biogas and generate electricity for tenants at night will begin construction in 2016.
As well as a thriving business park, Dunsfold Park is also the permanent base for many aviation related industries and provides a convenient location for a variety of aircraft operations including flight testing, maintenance, repair, storage, hangarage and apron parking.
Over the years Dunsfold Park has played host to many impressive events.. In addition to the airshow, Wings & Wheels, which attracts over 38,000 visitors annually. The aerodrome also hosts the BBC’s Top Gear team and is a popular film location. The site has been the backdrop to a number of small screen and Hollywood blockbusters including Casino Royale, The Da Vinci Code, Rush, World War Z, Spooks, Come Fly With Me and Eastenders.
The ambition for the rest of the 625-acre site is to create a sustainable mixed-use development. A masterplan for 1,800 homes along with new business space and a range of community facilities was submitted for planning approval on 4th December 2015. The vision is to deliver a ‘new Surrey village’, with the new homes being accompanied by new employment space that compliments the existing, and a range of services and community facilities for residents. Proposed facilities include a school, health centre and country park, which will be delivered alongside a comprehensive package of transport improvements.
The deadline for entries is Friday January 29 2016, with the awards ceremony taking place on April 28 at the H.G. Wells Conference and Events Centre in Woking.
